Pentel Brush Pen!!! —

Pentel Brush Pen!!

Seriously, how great is this thing?! Karl Kerschl uses it! Sean Phillips does too! It's badass.  I was always afraid of inking with a brush, but I got one of these for my birthday (I asked for it) and now the fear, she is gone. I mean, I'm not gonna throw out my Staedtler pigment liners or anything, but I fricking love this brush pen. So much so that I went out and bought a really nice Windsor-Newton brush from Opus, which is also great. Inking is really fun suddenly. Now if only I didn't suck so much at it ...

Nah, didn't fix my scanner -- I just hopped on Dave's this morning before he got in. Chump was none the wiser. And, yeah, you totally read my mind about the brush pen and watercolor! A big part of my motivation in getting into brush and ink is that I've got an idea for a children's book and I'd love to illustrate it in a style reminiscent of Calvin & Hobbes Sunday strips. Very simple, clean lines and gorgeous watercolor over the whole thing!
