One for the Money —
I drew this stuff on January 1, after a full day of hungover driving and ferrying home. I'm posting it today because I just got around to picking up a scanner. Inked with my Pentel brush pen and sign pen from fairly tight pencils. Gonna be doing mainly heads from ref (Facial Expressions) in January. Trying to apply the things I've read and re-read a half dozen times now in my Loomis books, while also trying to make some conscious stylistic choices rather than just drawing exactly what I see. I think it's past time I tried to find my own voice (for want of a better term). We'll see how that works out for me.

Yesterday was a really relaxed day. The kids were behaving themselves and playing on their own for most of the day, so I got lots of uninterrupted drawing time in. The first page here is pencils and inks (brush pen again) and Copics for shading. The second page was much more fun, as I decided to just sketch directly with the new Copics that my wife got me for Christmas. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed doing that -- it forced me to think simply and to just forget about the details that really don't matter.

And, lastly, today was my day with the kids while the wife got some writing done, so not much time for drawing. This is what I came up with — a page of Copic marker sketches (no pencils).

Tomorrow is gonna be rough. It's my first day back in the studio in 3 weeks. I need to be super productive though, since I've got 4 books to color in 6 weeks. Plus, I've somehow got to find time to pick up the sketchbook.
Wish me luck!
